A recent Which? survey of breakfast cereals came up with the following rather alarming statistic:  Just 8% of 100 breakfast cereals received a green light for for healthy sugar levels. Some were so sugary that they were in distinguishable from confectionary. An incredible 31 cereals of the 100 tested contained more than 4 teaspoons of sugar per serving and only 1 of the 28 marketed to children was found to contain anything like a sensible level.

Many brands positioned as 'healthy' such as Special K, All Bran and Bran Flakes contained extraordinary amounts of sugar. Starting the day with a bowl of Special K was little different to waking up to a bowl of Tesco's Dark Chocolate Fudge Cake Ice Cream, the survey reported. Great!

My advice: mix up some oats, dried cranberries, blueberries, raisons, some nuts, some puffed Quinoa, a handful or 2 of seeds and eat with fresh milk, yoghurt, fruit and honey or agave nectar and SAY NO! to all this PACKAGED CRAP! They keep telling us how important breakfast is - they're right - but not if the result is disrupted blood sugar, massive insulin release and energy levels that peak and dip, along with grains totally stripped of all nutrients and fibre.

Start your day with fibre packed wholegrains, some protein and a piece of fruit... and see how steady your energy levels can be...experience how much more efficient your concentration and memory are... and notice how your appetite gently reminds you that it's lunchtime a good 3 hours later....
